Peters Returns To Familiar Perch, Buescher Captures Kentucky
For the second time this season and seventh
time in his career Timothy Peters returns to the top in the NASCAR
Camping World Truck Series championship standings following a top-five
run at Kentucky. In eight races, Peters has finished inside the top 10
in seven of them, an 11th place finish at Texas is his lowest finish of
the year.
Despite still searching for his first win of
the season, the North Carolina native is off to the best season of his
career. He currently leads Justin Lofton and Ty Dillon by four points
each followed by James Buescher and Parker Kligerman.
Buescher, who drives for Turner Motorsports,
dominated Kentucky leading 119 of 150 laps en route to his second win
of the season, becoming the first driver in 2012 to win multiple events.
He made up an impressive 14 championship points from the previous race
to be fourth in points, only nine points out of the lead.
Buescher opened the 2012 season by winning Daytona’s DRIVE4COPD 300 and returns for Friday’s Subway Jalapeno 250.
Up Next: The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returns to
action on Saturday, July 14 at Iowa Speedway in the American Ethanol
200. Matt Crafton is the defending race winner.
