Mark Martin won the Coors Light Pole Award for the 
43rd Annual Pure Michigan 400  with a lap of 36.053 seconds,
 199.706 mph.
This is his 55th pole in 845 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.
 With the pole, he moves into a tie for seventh with
 Bill Elliott on the all-time series poles list.
This is his fourth pole and ninth top-10 start in 2012.
This is his first pole in 54 races at Michigan 
International Speedway. Martin started first in 
June of 1990 when qualifying was canceled due to inclement weather. 
Carl Edwards (second) posted his eighth top-10
 start of 2012 and his second in 17 races at
 Michigan International Speedway.
Jimmie Johnson (third) posted his 15th top-10 start
 at Michigan International Speedway. 
It is his 16th in 23 races this season.
