Sadler, Stenhouse Ready To Rumble For The Championship

NATIONWIDE SERIES

Sadler, Stenhouse Ready To Rumble For The Championship
As the races wind down on the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, so is the drivers’ patience.
Elliott Sadler holds a 19-point lead over Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in the championship standings but the duo left Bristol less than happy with each other. Sadler – who finished second to Stenhouse in the 2011 championship showdown – vowed in his post-race comments to race the Roush Fenway Racing driver differently in the final 10 races of the season. Their next meeting will come Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, a place Stenhouse traditionally turns up the wick with a third-place finish last year and a top-10 in 2010. On the other hand, Sadler has been known to struggle at the 1.54-mile tri-oval with three finishes of 30th or worse in six Nationwide starts. He finished 10th in last year’s race at the speedway.
Twenty-Two Tracks Down, One To Go For Patrick
The NASCAR lessons never stop for Danica Patrick and Travis Pastrana. Both will be going back to school this weekend as they embark on Atlanta Motor Speedway for the first time. However, for Patrick it marks the final tracks on the current schedule she has not competed at. She has raced at all 22 active NASCAR Nationwide Series tracks – a total of 23 in all, including Gateway International Raceway, which is no longer on the schedule. Fresh off a ninth-place finish at Bristol, Patrick sits 10th in the series championship standings. Atlanta will be Pastrana’s eighth series start in 2012.
Brian Scott To Reach 100-Race Milestone At Atlanta
Brian Scott will reach an impressive milestone at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The Idaho native will his make his 100th career start in NASCAR’s Nationwide Series on Saturday. He made his series debut at Nashville Superspeedway in April of 2009, and since then has earned five top-five finishes, 18 top-10 finishes and one pole award. Scott currently sits ninth in championship point standings with 10 races remaining in the season.
