LOGANO TAKES THE POLE FOR THE GREAT CLIPS 200 AT PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
PHOENIX —Joey Logano posted a qualifying speed of 132.621 mph to capture the pole for Saturday’s Great Clips 200 NASCAR Nationwide
Series semi-final race at Phoenix International Raceway. Logano’s lap time of 27.145 seconds earned him his 22nd pole in 109 NASCAR Nationwide Series races.
Logano has now earned
two poles in eight races at PIR and his first since November 2010. He
has captured six poles and 18 top-10 starts in 2012.
Logano will be joined on
the front row by Kyle Busch, who posted a speed of 27.181 seconds
(132.445 mph). Busch also took the pole for Sunday’s AdvoCare 500 NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series race.
Busch earned his 14th top-10 Nationwide start of the year and his 12th in 14 races at Phoenix.
Austin Dillon, who
currently ranks third in Nationwide Series points, 21 behind co-leaders
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Elliott Sadler, qualified third with a speed of
132.445 mph (27.219). Stenhouse
Jr. qualified eighth (131.675 mph) and Sadler finished 16th (130.624).
Sam Hornish Jr.
qualified fourth with a speed of 132.047 mph and Brian Vickers finished
fifth (132.033). Rounding out the top 10 were Brad Keselowski (131.989),
Kasey Kahne (131.844), Ricky
Stenhouse Jr. (131.675), Jason Leffler (131.593) and Brian Scott
(131.310).
