Kyle
Busch can collect yet another piece of hardware tomorrow night, as the
reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion vies for the
title of ‘Best Driver’ at the annual ESPY Awards, held at the Microsoft
Theater in Los Angeles.
Busch,
who has followed up his title-winning 2015 with three wins this season,
is up against Scott Dixon (IndyCar), Lewis Hamilton (Formula
One), Erica Enders-Stevens (NHRA) and Alexander Rossi (IndyCar).
Fans can visit
espn.com/espys to vote. Voting is open until the show starts at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, live on ABC.
Hosted
by WWE star – and honorary pace car driver for the 2016 Daytona 500 –
John Cena, the awards will feature a plethora of talent,
including driver of the No. 10 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet, Danica
Patrick. Patrick will be a presenter during Wednesday’s show.
Busch’s
dramatic championship run began with a wreck at Daytona that broke his
right leg and left foot, which forced Busch to miss the
first 11 races. Soon after his return, Busch reeled off five victories,
including the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
If
Busch wins, a NASCAR driver will have won the category for eight of the
last ten years. NASCAR winners in the last decade include
Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson (four consecutive years)
and Jeff Gordon.
