Kentucky Speedway announced ticket exchange
Fans who missed the inaugural Sprint Cup race at Kentucky Speedway will be allowed to exchange their tickets for any other Speedway Motorsports Inc. race this year or the Kentucky race next season, the track announced Monday.
The ticket exchange will be good for upcoming races at New Hampshire (Saturday, Sept. 25), Bristol (Aug. 27), Atlanta (Sept. 4), Charlotte (Oct. 15) and Texas (Nov. 6). The exchange is only for the Cup race. Refunds are not being offered.
It is estimated that up to 10,000 ticket holders failed to make it to the race because of traffic issues.
“To those fans that were not able to attend the Quaker State 400, we offer our sincerest apologies,” said Mark Simendinger, general manager of Kentucky Speedway. “We’d also like to apologize to all of our fans who endured challenging conditions during our event weekend.
“As we said earlier, we’re committed to working with NASCAR, state and local officials and traffic experts to address Saturday’s traffic issues to ensure that we never have this type of experience again.”
Fans who missed the race also can get free tickets to the track’s Camping World Truck Series race Oct. 1 or IndyCar Series race Oct. 2.
