Multiple sources have confirmed to ESPN that Sprint Cup Series veteran Mark Martin is expected to drive a part-time 2012 schedule for Michael Waltrip Racing in the No. 00 Toyota currently driven by David Reutimann.
Team owner Michael Waltrip will reportedly drive all or a portion of the four restrictor-plate races next season at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. The team's lineup for next year will include Clint Bowyer, recently signed, and Martin Truex Jr.
MWR has an announcement scheduled for Friday morning at Texas Motor Speedway, site of the weekend's AAA Texas 500.
Martin, 52, is in the last year of his contract driving the No. 5 Chevrolet at Hendrick Motorsports. He will be replaced by Kasey Kahne.
The No. 00 at MWR does have a primary sponsor for next year, Aarons. But reports say that funding is not sufficient to support a full season. Reutimann is currently 28th in points heading into Sunday's race in Texas. He is under contract to Michael Waltrip Racing for 2012.
