HUNTERSVILLE, N.C -- The 2012 Miss Sprint Cup lineup was unveiled during Saturday's NASCAR Preview in Charlotte, N.C., as Sprint announced that returning members Kim Coon (Orlando, Fla.) and Jaclyn Roney (Ann Arbor, Mich.) have been joined by newcomer Kristen Beat of El Cajon, Calif.
Coon, Roney and Beat make up the most geographically balanced Miss Sprint Cup lineup since the program's inception in 2008, representing the Southeast, Midwest and West Coast.
"The Miss Sprint Cup platform has evolved to become an integral part of our NASCAR Sprint Cup Series sponsorship," said Tim Considine, director of sports marketing at Sprint. "We've found three incredibly intelligent, talented young women who love the sport, technology and directly interacting with NASCAR fans. With more than 1 million followers on Facebook and Twitter and crowds of fans lining up each weekend for pictures and autographs, the platform's celebrity has exceeded our wildest expectations."
Miss Sprint Cup represents the Sprint brand around the track and in Victory Lane wherever the Cup Series competes. The three representatives also serve as the fans' friend on the inside, delivering behind-the-scenes updates, pictures and videos via Facebook and Twitter.
Beat adds a Southern California flare to the Miss Sprint Cup lineup. The former Fuel TV on-air talent and extreme sports reporter grew up racing motocross bikes and was a big supporter of her brother's pursuit of a professional racing career. When she isn't at the race track, Beat enjoys surfing, working out and honing her culinary skills with healthy recipes. After receiving her communications degree from the University of San Diego, Beat pursued her dream of a career in broadcasting, eventually becoming the youngest credentialed reporter in X-Games history.
"I love technology and what it has enabled our culture to accomplish, so working with Sprint is a dream come true," Beat said. "As a former action sports broadcaster, writer and photographer, I've learned technology is key. Being able to capture a special moment through a camera phone, or have access to information at any location and then share it with the world is an amazing advantage to my generation."
Coon returns for her second season as Miss Sprint Cup, which makes the former marketing and public relations professional the veteran member of this year's lineup.
"Last year was one of the most thrilling seasons in NASCAR history," said Coon, who hopes 2012 will hold the same level of on-track excitement. "I'm really looking forward to seeing all the fans I was able to meet last year. I'm very thankful to have been asked back for another season and feel blessed to be able to do something I love day in and day out."
Rounding out the 2012 lineup is Roney, who is entering her first full season as Miss Sprint Cup. The Eastern Michigan University grad joined the program in July 2011 and is looking forward to attending her first Daytona 500 next month.
"There were so many amazing 'firsts' for me last season and I can't wait to get back to the tracks," Roney said. "Being asked back for a second season was surreal. I'm looking forward to no longer wearing the rookie stripe and reconnecting with the fans. I'm counting down the days until we get to Daytona!"
The Miss Sprint Cup program has gained recognition among race fans and industry members, with the Miss Sprint Cup representatives greeting thousands of fans every race weekend at the Sprint Experience, Sprint's mobile marketing display.
As their popularity has grown, they now regularly participate in charity events and appear at other NASCAR sponsors' events. In all, the Miss Sprint Cup representatives took part in more than 600 media interviews and appearances last year.
