Nationwide Series driver Eric McClure suffered a concussion and
internal bruising in a hard accident this past weekend at Talladega
Superspeedway, but was released from a Birmingham, Ala., hospital on
Monday, according to a team representative.
McClure was airlifted to University of
Alabama-Birmingham Medical Center on Saturday after a hard accident in
which his No. 14 car was turned in pack traffic and impacted the Turn 3
wall head-on. The accident prompted a 19-minute red flag as rescue
workers cut away the roof of the Toyota to extricate the 33-year-old
driver, who was alert and talking after the accident but spent two
nights in the hospital for observation.
Team spokesperson Emily Brandt said Monday that
McClure "suffered a concussion and mild internal bruising and is
expected to make a full recovery." He will follow up this week with
specialists regarding his injuries, she added.
