TALLADEGA, Ala. -- Eric McClure remained under observation Sunday in a Birmingham hospital, recuperating from undisclosed injuries suffered in a serious accident late in Saturday's Nationwide Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

According to team spokesman Emily Brandt, McClure is "stable and alert" while continuing to undergo tests at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Hospital.
McClure had to be cut from his No. 14 Toyota by safety crews and airlifted to the hospital following a multi-car accident during a green-white-checkered restart. McClure's car slammed head-first into the SAFER barrier on the inside wall at the end of the backstretch.
McClure's wife, Miranda, posted on his Facebook page that the family is "so thankful that he survived. It is nothing short of a miracle that he was not hurt more than he is."
She also thanked the fans for their well wishes.
"Eric and would like to thank everyone for their prayers. They truly made a difference. ... Please continue to pray for his recovery."
Miranda McClure says they're hoping he will be released later Sunday.
