NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES
Points Battle Continues to Shuffle, Dillon Remains on Top
As the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads from the gambling city to the gambling track of Talladega Superspeedway, Ty Dillon remains the king on the throne. With an average finish this season of 7.2, Dillon is hoping that his upcoming visit to the 2.66-mile track is reminiscent of 2011 where he captured the pole and won the race in ARCA Series.
Dillon continues to lead second- place contender James Buescher by a mere one point. Buescher – who gained three points on Dillon in Las Vegas - has one top-five and two top-10 finishes with 15th being his worst finish in three races at Talladega. Timothy Peters remains in third position in the standings just 24 points behind the leader. He will need to improve on his best finish of seventh at Talladega to remain in the hunt.
Last season’s Sunoco Rookie of the Year, Joey Coulter is determined to get into the heat of the championship battle with five races remaining. Coulter has moved up two positions in the standings over the past three races to fourth. He surpasses Parker Kligerman who rounds out the top-five positions. Both Coulter and Kligerman have top-10 finishes at Talladega, collected in their ARCA days.
German Quiroga Returns to the Series with Kyle Busch Motorsports at Talladega
German Quiroga will pilot Kyle Busch Motorsports’ second entry at Talladega in the No. 51 Toyota. This is the first of four starts he will make this season, including Texas, Phoenix and Homestead. He made his series debut in 2011 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Quiroga is a two-time NASCAR Mexico Series champion.
Red Horse Racing Looks to Sweep Superspeedway Races in 2012
After winning the series opener at Daytona, Red Horse Racing takes its strong superspeedway program to the high banks of Talladega. With a win, second-place and sixth-place finish at Daytona in February, the team’s Todd Bodine could be looking to capture his third truck series victory at the superspeedway while helping out his championship contending teammates Timothy Peters and Parker Kligerman. Peters was the runner up at Daytona helping push teammate John King to the victory. With Kligerman now a part of the stable, let the dancing begin.
