Stenhouse Pulls Off The Near Impossible to Keep Championship Hopes Alive
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has earned a new nickname with three races remaining in the 2012 season, "The Comeback Kid." It appeared Stenhouse’s chances of repeating his championship run last season were dwindling midway through Saturday’s Nationwide Series race at Kansas when an accident and the resulting damage left him two laps down. However, that was not the end of his day.
Stenhouse overcame the near-impossible to find himself running second when race leader Kyle Busch ran out of fuel on the last lap. Stenhouse captured his sixth win of the season to cut his point’s deficit in half. Elliott Sadler still holds the advantage in the championship standings with a six-point lead over Stenhouse.
Their next meeting will come at Texas Motor Speedway, where Stenhouse won his fourth series victory earlier this season and Sadler won a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event in 2004.
Allgaier Attends FFA National Convention To Assist With Rally to Fight Hunger
As the NASCAR Nationwide Series embarks on its final off weekend of the season, Justin Allgaier heads to Indianapolis on behalf of his primary sponsor (BRANDT), to join 40,000 Future Farmers of America (FFA) students from across the country at their National Convention. Allgaier – who currently sits sixth in the series standings - will assist FFA members in the Rally to Fight Hunger, which has 10,000 students packing one million meals over three days. The project is in conjunction with Kids Against Hunger, a humanitarian food-aid organization. Because of his involvement with BRANDT and the FFA, Allgaier will also become a Lifetime Alumni Member with the organization.
