Bayne’s Wedding Week Ends With A Win

NATIONWIDE SERIES – ALLIANCE TRUCK PARTS 250, SATURDAY, JUNE 15, 2 P.M. EDT ON ABC

Bayne’s Wedding Week Ends With A Win
After marrying his longtime girlfriend, Ashton, on Tuesday, June 4 in Asheville, N.C., Trevor Bayne ended his nuptial week with a win in the rain-delayed DuPont Pioneer 250 at Iowa on Sunday. The return to Victory Lane for the No. 6 Roush Fenway team is just in time as the third-leg in a 21-race non-stop stretch through the schedule’s summer months. Bayne, who captured his first checkered flag since 2011, has faced a lot of pressure this year to perform in the No. 6 Ford vacated after last season by two-time series champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

A Possible Fourth Consecutive Pole Would Make History For Dillon
If Austin Dillon earns the pole this weekend at Michigan, it would be his fourth consecutive pole after earning the top starting position at Charlotte, Dover and Iowa. The record-setting consecutive pole would break a six-way tie with Sam Ard, Trevor Bayne, Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin and Michael Waltrip. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to parlay any of the starts on the pole into victories. He was runner-up in Sunday’s DuPont Pioneer 250 at Iowa.

29th-Place Finish At Iowa Drops Vickers Four Spots
As the only former NASCAR Nationwide Series champion in the top 10 in the points standings, many pundits figured Brian Vickers would be one of the frontrunners for the 2013 crown. Heading into Iowa, Vickers sat third in the standings, only 42 points behind leader Regan Smith. After a disappointing 29th-point finish on Sunday, Vickers left Newton, Iowa, seventh in points, 64 points back. As a result, Justin Allgaier and Austin Dillon both moved up one spot to third and fourth respectively, while Elliott Sadler jumped two positions to fifth and Parker Kligerman remained ensconced in sixth.
